Since 2005 a Conference of Youth takes place during the weekend before COP. This year it is also the Power Shift Central and Eastern Europe – a 4-day long workshops for young climate activists, organised by a group of climate organisations, including Polish Youth Climate Network.
From 7th to 10th of November, more than 300 people working for climate protection and climate justice met in Warsaw to participate in workshops and lectures and share knowledge and experience. Many of them are experienced activists and negotiators who are going to participate in COP19.
Polish context of COP was one of the key issues brought up at COY. What keeps evoking the greatest concern of the international community is Polish climate and energy policy.
One of the workshop was devoted solely to the ‘North’ Power Plant – the project that evidently runs counter to all the efforts undertaken for climate protection.
