The planned power plant in the region of Pomerania with a power of 2,000 MW will be one of the largest planned coal-fired power plants in Europe (expected annual coal consumption will be about 4.6 million tons, and carbon dioxide emissions will exceed 9.4 million tones).

The power plant will not only contribute to the deepening of climate change, but also determines the direction of Polish energy policy in the coming decades, blocking the development of renewable energy sources. This means deepening the dependence of Poland on fossil fuels.

The investment will also mean irreversible changes in the landscape of Pomerania and the devastation of valuable soils. The power plant will seriously undermine the protected areas Natura 2000, including the Lower Vistula ecosystem that is home to many rare species of plants and animals and a key migration corridor for protected fish species.

The investor of the Power Plant is Kulczyk Investments. Chairman of the Board of Kulczyk Investments, Dr. Jan Kulczyk, is also a member of the Climate Change Task Force – a group which brings together world-renowned experts on climate change, including Nobel laureates and IPCC experts. He also holds the office of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Green Cross International, an internationally recognized organization for environmental security. Construction of new coal stands in sharp contrast to the actions of these two respected institutions and undermines their credibility.

This action is coordinated by The Association Workshop for All Beings, a public benefit organization, which has been working for 23 years to protect the most precious of Polish natural monuments - working to protect large carnivores, ecological corridors (including the protection of wild fauna by road investments), and the protection of the Bialowieza forest, the last lowland forest in Europe with natural features.
