The haring would mark another important step on the long road to finally annul the building permit for the power plant. In December 2015, at the request of over 70 local farmers and civic society organizations which form the StopEP Coalition, the Voivode of Pomerania confirmed that the document had been issued in flagrant violation of the law and withdrew the project’s building permit. In his explanatory statement the Voivode pointed out inter alia that public participation in the proceedings was unlawfully limited and that the competent bodies uncritically accepted information and evidence provided by the investor’s but downplayed the motions and objections filed by the society even though those evidence concerned crucial issues of the project’s impact on human health and life and quality of the environment.

The investor decided to appeal against the above-mentioned ruling, which resulted in the haring due on the 14th of September 2016. Unfortunately, the hearing was postponed due to formal reasons – as a result of an error made by a delivery company one of the parties was not informed about the hearing on time. This means that the investor has to wait another several months until his appeal is examined. The case is closely monitored civic society organizations and the local community who for the past 6 years has been fighting against building a coal fired giant in a clean region known for its high-quality agriculture.
